Owning a home in South Florida has its perks, but unfortunately it does come with its fair share of mandatory maintenance. You may not be able to see the dirt and grimy buildup on the exterior of your home, but believe me, it’s there. This accumulation of dirt is not a reflection on your cleaning or home maintenance abilities—it’s simply part of your house being exposed to the elements.
Having owned homes in South Florida for over 30 years, I’ve cleaned my own roof on numerous occasions. While it is certainly doable to purchase a pressure cleaner and do-it-yourself, it is not for the faint of heart. It’s tedious, hard work, not to mention somewhat dangerous. With so many 2-story homes in Chapel Trail and West Pembroke Pines, why not hire a professional?
A few years ago, I was introduced to Damian Fragata, owner of 954 Pressure Cleaning. I had watched his company take care of several of my neighbors and was always impressed with the quality of his work, not to mention his attention to detail with things like covering plants and clean-up. I’m a big fan of supporting local family-owned businesses so I made a mental note that the next time I needed pressure cleaning done, I’d give him a call.
As it turns out, just a few months later I was at the monthly Chapel Trail Owners’ Association meeting, when the chair of the Covenant Compliance Committee approached some members of the Board and management about a neighbor in need of pressure cleaning. This neighbor was living alone on a fixed income and really needed help to avoid fines for a dirty roof and driveway. Rather than imposing the fine and moving on, the committee members recognized that a fine wouldn’t serve to remedy the problem, but likely make it more difficult for this neighbor to get the work completed. It was then that I remembered Damian’s “Pressure for a Purpose” initiative to donate his services to those in need. I asked for the neighbor’s Contact information and address and some time and set out to see what could be done. I contacted Damian the next day and was pleased when he jumped at the opportunity to help, scheduling the cleaning less than a week away. He and his team were out a few days later and did an amazing job. They even went the extra mile and cleaned the walls, sidewalk, porch, etc.
In this day and age, it’s not difficult to find companies to do all sorts of work. What is rare and sets Damian and 954 Pressure Cleaning apart, is the thoughtfulness and compassion to put the needs of others first and offer their services to those who cannot afford them. That sort of benevolence should not only be applauded, but rewarded. 954 Pressure Cleaning has earned my business not through the great work they did for me, but for what they continue to do for others.
